The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) is pleased to release this special statement to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) which was a blessing to the entire mankind.
The Arabic month of Rabeeunil-Awwal is a very significant month for the entire mankind. This is the month of blessing in which Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) was born to enlighten the humanity to the right path.
The word ‘Rabeeun’ denotes the season of spring. The season of spring brings greenery, beauty and splendor to the earth. Similar to the season of spring, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) brought prosperity, success, happiness, peace and contentment to humanity.
It was an era in which a severe drought prevailed in the spiritual and secular life of the entire humankind in the world. The earth was in a desperate need of an arrival of a new spring. And it was Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) who was the bearer of this new season of spring to humanity.
The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) carries the sense of value, true and real meaning of life on this world which would fill in the spiritual vacuum with peace and tranquility which is an essential requirement in the world, today. And these teachings are definitely potential enough to create a renewed world.
While commemorating the final Messenger of Allah on this special day, it is binding upon the Muslims to bear witness by following and adhering to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SalallahuAlaihiWaSallam) on the values of humanity, love, kindness, affection, coexistence and working towards the wellbeing of the people.

We, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama welcome the news report on the death of the ruthless terrorist, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed in a US military raid in Syria, which was supported by other countries. ISIS has carried out many atrocities against humanity and we feel that the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, ringleader of this terror organization is a big step forward in eliminating ISIS menace completely from this world. We believe that Allah has answered the prayers and the cries of the victims affected by the ISIS terror attacks in Sri Lanka and elsewhere in the world, and that he will get the deserved punishments in the life here-after.
As per the Joint Declaration issued by ACJU and Muslim Organizations of Sri Lanka in 23rd July 2015, against ISIS and Extremism, we reiterate that ISIS is a violent terrorist organization which acts against the fundamental teachings of Islam. It is an absolutely deviant organization which operates against all the principles and tenets of Islam. ISIS terrorist organization that kills innocent people under the name of Islam is totally unacceptable. There is no place in Islam for extremism, terrorism, murder, violence against innocent people, which are regarded as grave sins.
We once again emphasize to our fellow Sri Lankans that ISIS or any other extremist ideology has nothing to do with Islam. Moving forward, we all should unite and make it our common goal to work tirelessly to eradicate all forms of terrorism, extremism and violence and make efforts to build peace and harmony across the globe.

Commemorating The Victims Of The Easter Sunday Attacks – 21st April 2019
21st of April, marks one of the darkest days in the history of our Motherland and today we commemorate the innocent lives that were lost in the Easter Sunday Attacks.
The ACJU, on behalf of the Muslim Civil Societies and the Muslim Community, reiterate our strong condemnation of the atrocious crime against humanity, carried out by terrorists. There is no place in Islam or in any religion for any form of extremism or terrorism.
The Muslims of Sri Lanka have been living harmoniously with all other communities of this country for more than 1000 years. It is evident throughout history that the Muslim community stands together with all Sri Lankans at all times, and works towards strengthening peace and harmony of this nation.
Unfortunately many evil elements have been targeting the Muslim community for various malicious agendas and have been creating confusion and doubt among the other communities about the Muslims.
We Sri Lankans should unitedly defeat such conspiracies that divide and create disharmony within communities, by promoting and supporting all efforts that are made towards building peaceful coexistence among communities.
To restore understanding between the communities, ACJU pledges to build Harmony centers, libraries in mosques, schools and associations. To prevent the religious space from being misused and abused, ACJU recognizes the paramount importance of working with government and other faith leaders to regulate the religious space and build moderation, toleration and coexistence.
The ACJU is prepared to provide any necessary support in relation to religious counseling and guidance to the Youth who are currently in custody. And we have also been working on efforts among the community in providing the correct interpretations and teachings of Islam.
The ACJU has also initiated a ‘National Network Project (NNP)’, with the objective of establishing and strengthening the reconciliation and coexistence among all the communities.
We request all to pray for those effected and their families, and to pray for a peaceful Sri Lanka.
