The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama strongly condemns the controversial statements made by a person named Indika Thotawatta in a recent video published on YouTube, insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) whose teachings are followed by nearly 2 billion Muslims around the globe.
It is of great concern that such a video containing malicious hate speech is published online offending and insulting a global Religion, despite being well-aware that this act shall not only be strongly condemned by the local and global community, but also bring disrepute to our country, especially when we are in need of international support.
On behalf of the Muslim community, the ACJU has promptly undertaken the appropriate steps and has filed a complaint against this individual and also has written to the Hon. President, IGP and Computer Crimes Investigation Division (CCID) urging them to take necessary actions against such evil elements.
The ACJU appeals everyone to refrain from insulting other faiths, religious leaders and their teachings and posting hate content on social media. We hope that the relevant authorities will take appropriate measures in this regard and ensure to protect peace, harmony and coexistence among the communities in our Mother land.
