All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama vehemently condemns setting fire to the Prime Minister’s private residence yesterday (09.07.2022), and urges the relevant authorities to identify the culprits and mete out appropriate legal action.
Democratic expression is an undeniable right of the people. However, we humbly appeal the demonstrators and protestors to ensure to avoid causing any damage to lives, public and private properties, to refrain from violence and not to violate the laws of the land.
We further vehemently condemn the brutal attacks carried out against the journalists who were on site of the people’s struggle, and pray for the quick recovery of those who were injured during the protest.
The needy and destitute, who are undergoing various hardships due to the existing shortage of basic necessities such fuel, electricity, milk powder, food items, medicines etc, should be identified and extended with assistance in every possible manner.
Everyone of us should conduct ourselves responsibly to establish peace in our Motherland and engage in efforts towards the path of sustainable development.
