All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and Sri Lanka – Pakistan Friendship, Trade and Investment Association visit the High Commission of Pakistan

All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and representatives from the Sri Lanka – Pakistan Friendship, Trade and Investment Association met with Hon. Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Thanveer Ahamed today (2021.12.04) and handed over a letter, condemning the brutal, inhumane murder of Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan employed in Sialkot, Pakistan, while appreciating the swift action taken by the Pakistani security forces and for arresting more than 100 suspects in connection with the said shameful and barbaric act. Furthermore, it was requested that the suspects be produced before the legal mechanism immediately, and the convicts be dealt with severe punishment for the crimes they committed.

 

They also requested that steps shall be taken to strengthen the existing brotherhood between the two friendly nations, and no act which would lead to the emergence of issues uncalled for between the two nations shall be condoned or disregarded. The officials of the High Commission of Pakistan stated that they are ashamed of the incident that took place, and expressed their deepest sorrow.

 

The officials of the High Commission also emphasized that they are committed to strengthen the bond between the Buddhist majority and other ethnic groups, and they will keep us informed of the legal steps against the perpetrators of this shameful incident.

 

Representing the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, the General Secretary Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith, Asst. General Secretary Ash-Shaikh M. S. M. Thassim and the Asst. Treasurer Dr. Ash-Shaikh Azwer Azahim participated in this meeting.
