All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama vehemently condemns the comments expressed by a controversial person in a discussion held on a social media platform on 28th February 2022, where he stated that the fundamental reason for the Easter Sunday attack was the Holy Al-Quran.
Al-Quran is a scripture which preaches peace, harmony and coexistence. Its teachings stand testament to such fact. History witnesses the fact that Prophet Muhammadh (SAW), who was sent as a blessing to the entire humankind, established peace and harmony in this world.
9.7% of the Sri Lankan population and 1.8 billion of the world population follow Prophet Muhammadh (SAW) and the Holy Al-Quran. In this context, the speeches and expressions that degrade Prophet Muhammadh (SAW) and the Holy Quran hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslims, not only in the local sphere, but also internationally as well. Using the freedom of expression and speech to disrespect the sentiments of others and to degrade the ideals of a certain section of the population must be barred immediately, and necessary action must be taken to curb such acts.
The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama urges relevant authorities to take immediate measures against such individuals, who instigate conflicts and violence against communities for their self-gain.
The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama requests the Muslim community to practice patience and caution with regard to this matter. As there have been many individuals who have tried to trigger Muslims and instigate problems throughout the history, ACJU further requests the Muslim community to be vigilant and mindful in handling these issues.
