The news of the demise of Dr. Ahangamage Tudor Ariyaratne, a well-respectable teacher of the Sri Lankans who was renowned for tireless efforts towards enhancing the understanding of the youth community and multicultural society of our country, has grieved all of us.

As a former teacher of Nalanda College, Colombo, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne conducted the first Shramadana Work Camp in 1958, and eventually succeeded in establishing Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka, which is known as the largest non-government organization in the country.

It is evident through his efforts that his primary objective was to establish a prosperous Nation enriched with brotherhood and harmony where all Sri Lankans could live with mutual understanding and peace.

We, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and the Muslim community, convey our deepest condolences on the loss of such a prominent personality, to his family and friends,

We believe that the highest honor and tribute which could be done by all Sri Lankans, is to continue his good efforts with determination and to accomplish his noble mission of establishing a prosperous community with true spirituality.
