We are deeply saddened by the news of the demise of Ash Shaikh Dr. Al-Habīb Abu Bakr Al-‘Adny Bin ‘Ali Al-Masyhur (Rahmatullahi Alaihi), who was a Spiritual Mentor and pioneer of the Ba’Alawiyyah Tariqa and had engaged in efforts of Da’wa in many countries across the world. He had passed away in Jordan on 27.07.2022. Inna Lillahi Wainna Ilahi Raajioon.
Ash Shaikh Dr. Al Habib Abu Bakr Al-Masyhur (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) was born in 1366 Hijri.
He acquired Religious education from his father, Shaikh Ali Al-Masyhur Ba’alavi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) who was the Mufti of Ahwar in Yemen, and other prominent Ulama of the region such as Adn, Tharim and Hadramout. Later he continued his studies at the University of Adn, Yemen. He belonged to the family of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam was also considered to be one of the greatest Religious Scholars of our time.
Ash-Shaikh Dr. Al-Habīb Abu Bakr Al-‘Adny Bin ‘Ali Al-Masyhur (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) had been conducting researches for decades on exploring solutions for the contemporary problems faced by the Muslims in modern times, within the framework of Islam. He had also written several books in the field of study called ‘Fiqh Tahawwulat’, based on Hadith Jibreel, by deeply studying the signs of Qiyamah and contemporary problems.
Similar to his contribution to the field of knowledge through the compilation hundreds of books, he had also established more than 50 Universities in several countries around the world and had directed his students to many parts of the world, including Sri Lanka, to engage in efforts of Deen. By adopting his moderate manner of conduct, he engaged in efforts of Da’wa in Tariqa and non-Tariqa Arabic Colleges and Masjids in Sri Lanka.
It is noteworthy that after the demise of Ash Shaikh Hamza bin Abdullah Alawiyatul Qadiri (Rahmatullahi Alaihi), he and his students continued to serve as spiritual mentors at Kechimalai Bukhari Majlis, Ashrafiyya Arabic College and Alawiyya Tariqa.
On behalf of the Ulama and the Executive Committee of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and the people of our country, we express our deepest condolences to his family, relatives, devotees and his disciples.
May Almighty Allah Ta’ala accept his good deeds, include him amongst ranks of the Righteous, and grant him Jannatul-Firdaus
