EXPEDITING MASJID BASED RELIEF EFFORTS
We are aware that properties worth of billions of Rupees of Muslims, were destroyed due to recent attacks on Muslims in Puttalam, Kurunegala and Gampaha districts.
The ACJU expresses its gratitude to all those who have been extending their assistance in various manners to the affected victims, and May Almighty Allah reward them with success in this World and in the Hereafter.
Under the leadership of Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe, the President of ACJU and Ash Shaikh A.C Agar Mohamed, the Deputy President of ACJU, the members of the ACJU Executive Committee visited the affected regions on 15th of May 2019.
During the discussions held subsequently, it was resolved that necessary steps should be taken to obtain government compensations and immediate relief aid should be provided to the victims by the Muslim community, and assist them to recover by all possible means.
In the meantime, ACJU urges the effected Muslims to lodge complaints at the police stations and GS offices in their respective areas, providing details of their losses in writing a soon as possible.
A special meeting was convened at the ACJU Head office with members of the Masjid Federations of Colombo region on the 17th of May 2019. In the meeting, it was agreed that assistance to the effected by the recent destruction should be distributed through the network of Masjid federations under the purview of the ACJU as executed during the past disasters of Tsunami, Floods etc.
Accordingly, the tasks has been handed over to Masjid Federations and ACJU branches as follows:

The ACJU requests that the Muslim community to cooperate with the respective Masjid Federation and ACJU Branches to provide possible assistance to help those affected during this blessed Month of Ramadhaan, to recover from this situation.
Furthermore the ACJU requests to follow the below guideline when assisting those affected:
- The Masjid Federations and the ACJU Branches should make that sufficient assistance are provided to all those affected.
- Collective and individual assistance should be done to Ifthar and Sahar arrangements of the affected people.
- Zakath could be given to the eligible among the victims while giving to other eligible persons. Also we should increase our Sadaka in these times of dire need of our brethren.
