There is a risk of COVID-19 spreading in our country again. The ACJU requests all to strictly adhere to the health guidelines issued by the authorities and also to act responsibly in order to protect ourselves, our families and the people of our country from this pandemic.

Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: ‘If you hear about it (an outbreak of plague) in a land, do not go to it; but if plague breaks out in a country where you are staying, do not run away from it.’ (Sahih Bukhari: 5729, Sahih Muslim: 2219) – Through these words, Islam has taught us that we need to take precautions with regard to diseases.

All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama requests to follow the steps mentioned below, in order to protect all of us from the impact of this virus.

  • The Muslim community should strictly follow the advice and guidance for the month of Ramadhaan and other periods, which have been issued by the health authorities. They should specially pay attention to wearing masks, washing hands frequently, maintaining a social distance of at least 01 meter and avoiding crowded places.
  • Religious scholars must occasionally advice and remind the public in their religious lectures on the importance of following these health guidelines.
  • Strict adherence to the guidelines issued by Health authorities and Waqf Board as to the steps to be followed at mosques during the congregational prayers and other instances.
  • Occasionally reciting the Dua (Supplication) mentioned below:

‎”اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ وَالْجُنُونِ وَالْجُذَامِ وَمِنْ سَيِّئِ الأَسْقَامِ”

(Meaning: Allah! I seek protection from leprosy, insanity, epidemics and dangerous diseases. (Abu Dawood: 1554)

May the Almighty Allah protect our motherland and the whole world from these deadly diseases. Aameen!
