Throughout history of humanity, conflicts and violence have been occurring continuously to date. Although continuous attempts have been made to achieve peace, mankind has not been able to cease violence and conflicts.
It is natural for differences of opinions to arise in multi-cultural communities. Recognizing pluralism along with religious tolerance paves way towards to unity. The Holy Qur’an mentions that Allah created human beings into different communities and tribes so that they could get to know each other (Surah Hujurat, Verse 13). Furthermore, the Holy Quran states not to scoff at others and not find fault with one another (Surah Hujurat, Verse 11).
Forcing, intimidating or engaging in violence on the basis of faith or race, are clear signs of extremism and terrorism. Islam strongly condemns this. This directly contradicts with the objectives of Islam.
Everyone has the freedom opinion. The Holy Quran states: “There is no compulsion in religion,” says the Qur’an. (Surah Baqarah, Verse 256)
“A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, he shall not oppress him, nor shall he hand him over to an oppressor”. (Sahih Bukhari)
Moreover, Holy Quran emphasizes on upholding justice, as it states: “Do justice. That is nearer to Taqwā” (Surah Ma’idah, Verse 08).
In fact, all racial conflicts and violence are politically motivated. We condemn all forms of violence perpetrated by such anti-social political elements. We share the grief of the victims of those were severely injured and the families of those who lost their lives due to such unfortunate events. As it is one of the religious obligations to raise the voice on behalf of those victimized.
During the final Haj Pilgrimage, The beloved Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Your lives, properties, and honor are sacred” (Bukhari)
The United Nations have declared August 22nd as ‘International Day Commemorating Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief’. Accordingly, it condemns all forms of violence against individuals and attacks carried out against their houses, properties, cultural centers and worship places.
ACJU always stands committed in maintaining unity and peaceful coexistence with members of other faiths.
Let us pray that such unfortunate, bitter incidents do not reoccur and that our country is blessed with peace and tranquility. As citizens of a multi-ethnic country, let us contribute towards its development and prosperity by observing religious values such as mutual understanding, justice, fairness, equality, and conducting ourselves with mercy and forbearance among each other.
