Regarding the consignment of Mus’haf (Quranic Arabic text only) and Translations
We write to bring to your attention a matter regarding a consignment of Mus’haf (Quranic Arabic text only) and Translations which have been shipped to Sri Lanka.
The concerned consignment has been addressed to the Director of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs by Al Haj Sadiq, but is yet to be released citing clearance approval from the relevant authorities. He has stated that he had obtained consent from your Honorable –self as the Minister of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs and the former Director of DMRCA, prior to shipping the consignment.
It noted with great concern that messages are being circulated on social media claiming that the ACJU has not approved the release of this consignment, even though ACJU has not been granted any official authority to do so.
We wish to kindly remind that the ACJU invited your Honorable-self for a meeting on the 20th of May 2024 to discuss matters pertaining to issues in obtaining the necessary approvals and clearances for imported Islamic religious texts. Your honorable-self had responded that you shall be unable to attend due to a scheduled Cabinet meeting.
We urge your honorable-self to look into this matter promptly.
