Meeting with ACJU and MCSL

A meeting was held with ACJU and MCSL on 08.08.2023, at the ACJU Head office, with the aim of creating understanding and harmony in the society regarding the amendments of the MMDA.Matters regarding the proposals submitted by Muslim civil society organizations on the amendments to the MMDA were discussed in this meeting. Regardless of their stance on the MMDA amendments, the MCSL assured that they would stand by the proposals unanimously proposed by the ACJU and other Muslim civil society organizations and would conduct with cooperation and understanding in the consensus decisions reached regarding these amendments considering the interest and consensus of the community.

Furthermore, during the course of the discussion, ACJU emphasized that many amendments should be made in the system of Quazi, which is unanimously accepted by all. And with reference to matters on which differences of opinion prevail, the opinions of Civil Society organizations should be considered with the guidance of Ulama. It was also stated that the ACJU has been firm on it’s stance on the amendments to the MMDA since the 1970s.

Saifullah participated in this meeting representing ACJU and representing MCSL, it’s President N.M. Ameen, Secretary M.T.M. Rizwe, Members Mufti Hashim and Dr. Mareena Taha Refai participated.
