Dear Beloved Cardinal,
RE: OUR SUPPORT TO CONDUCT SUNDAY MASS IN A PEACEFUL MANNER
I would like to appreciate your Eminence for the warm welcome extended to us during our visit made on 21st April 2019 to express our deepest and most heartfelt condolence for the unfortunate event that took place, which resulted in loss of many innocent lives and left many wounded.
We take this opportunity to reiterate, on behalf of the Muslim Community our deepest sympathies to the families of the demise and we pray for quick recovery of who are injured due to the terrorist attack. We stand in solidarity with the Christian community.
It is commendable that your Eminence has guided your community to calmness in a most excellent manner and thereby communal violence has been avoided. On behalf of the Muslim Community of Sri Lanka, we are grateful and would sincerely thank your Eminence for the steps taken in this regard.
We have heard through media reports that your Eminence has instructed to cancel all Sunday Mass due to security concerns prevailing in the country. In light of this we would like to propose the following in most humble and respectable manner:
- We the Muslim Community are ready to come forward in providing security for Churches against any unfavorable situations while Sunday Mass is in progress so that the religious observance can be held peacefully without any hindrance.
- If your Eminence or the Churches feel insecure to conduct the Sunday Mass, we are committed to make sure to facilitate peaceful prayers for the worshippers by arranging alternative locations where all could gather for their prayers with necessary security.
We believe that our humble offer above will help all of us to express our solidarity with the Christian Brothers & Sisters in Sri Lanka.
