Solar Eclipse
Astronomy reports have stated that a partial solar eclipse shall occur on Saturday, 30th of April 2022 InShaAllah. This is reported to be the first eclipse of the year 2022. The eclipse is expected to occur, according to the local (Sri Lankan) time from 12:15 am to 04:07 am on the 01st of May 2022. Furthermore, it is stated that the eclipse will not be visible in Sri Lanka.
The eclipse prayer is Sunnah when the moon or the sun is seen to disappear completely or partially. Since the eclipse will not be visible in our country, the eclipse prayer will not be sunnah upon us.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: The sun and the moon are two signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed on account of anyone’s death or on account of anyone’s birth. So when you see them, glorify and supplicate Allah, observe prayer, and give alms.
