Penumbral Lunar Eclipse
Astronomy reports have stated that a ‘Total Lunar Eclipse’ shall occur today (26th of May 2021) Wednesday, and it will be a penumbral lunar eclipse for Sri Lanka. Furthermore, it is stated that the penumbral lunar eclipse will end at 1920 hrs Colombo time, In Sha Allah.
When a penumbral Lunar Eclipse occurs a nebulous situation will be seen in the light of moon. A part of the moon or the full moon will be not covered. The eclipse prayer is Sunnah when the full or a part of the moon or sun get covered, in compared to Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, eclipse prayer is not a Sunnah.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: The sun and the moon are two signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed on account of anyone’s death or on account of anyone’s birth. So when you see them, glorify and supplicate Allah, observe prayer, give alms. (Saheehul Bukhari-1044)
