On 21st August 2024, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the presidential candidate of the National People’s Power, along with parliamentarians and key officials from the party, visited the head office of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) for a meeting. The meeting was scheduled upon the request of the party.
Representing the ACJU, the President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Presidents, Deputy Secretaries and members of the Executive Committee attended. On behalf of the National People’s Power, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Parliamentarian Hon. Vijitha Herath, and other key officials were present.
During the meeting, ACJU President Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe and General Secretary Ash-Sheikh M. Arkam Nooramith provided an overview of the organization’s work and its ongoing efforts. They emphasized that the ACJU is a non-political religious institution, offering guidance for all Sri Lankans to live together with understanding and harmony.
Furthermore, they reminded the attendees that voting is a responsibility, and both voters and candidates must act with great care and integrity.
In his speech, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake explained his party’s policies and urged those interested in understanding the party to examine its past actions.
At the end of the event, the Sinhalese translation of the Quran and other publications from the ACJU were presented to the attendees.
