Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse visited the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama in the series of meetings with the Religious Scholars

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse visited the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, Head Office on 2018.11.12 in the series of meeting with the All Religious Leaders subsequent to an appointment taken from the ACJU.

Under the leadership of Ash-Sheikh M.M.A. Mubarak, Honorary General Secretary for the ACJU, the meeting was conducted. Ash-Sheikh Akram Nooramith, Member of ACJU Executive Committee delivered the welcome speech.

He said in his speech that the ACJU has been functioning since 1924. And it has moved forward without any political affiliation since its establishment.

“We ACJU have always respected and honored, requests for meetings by anyone, and have been receiving guests very often. Many local and foreign delegates have had cordial discussions with us in many occasions”, he said.

Further, he said, “You have a number of years’ experience in politics and as the President of the country have done several developments in the country. Today, there is a great political crisis prevailing in the country. If it continues there will be a great loss in our economy, peace, unity and democracy, and, the foreign countries will have a bad impression on us”.

“The ACJU believes that this present political crisis could be solved through dialogue among the political leaders and thereby establish democracy and law in the country”.

“As the leader who ended the 30 years of war in the country, while establishing peace, unity and democracy, we believe, that you can make effort to re-establish peace and democracy in the country.” He said.

While Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse was speaking he said, “First of all I thank the ACJU for allocating time for meeting in my series of dialogues with All Religious Leaders. For the progress of the country all sorts of people and communities should commit together and when I was in power I served the people without any communal differences. I did my best to prevent ethnic crisis among the people”

Ash-Sheikh M. Murshid, Asst. Secretary for the ACJU, delivered the Vote of Thanks, thanking all participants, while supplicating to Allah, the Almighty, seeking for a solution for the present political crisis prevailing in the country.
