08th April 2021 / 25th Sha’baan 1442
We have reached the end of the month of Sha’ban. Thereby, it is now time to prepare ourselves for the holy month of Ramadan.
Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five major pillars of Islam. It was during this month that Almighty Allah revealed the noble Quran. This month is deemed a blessing in which every slave of Allah can strive to establish a close connection with Him. Also, this is the month of dua, patience and sadakah.
Spiritual guidelines to be followed during the month of Ramadan:
- Observing all the fasts during the month of Ramadan with utmost care.
- Paying greater attention to both the Fard and Sunnah acts of worship, whilst in particular, completely refraining from wasting time on social media and other unnecessary matters.
- Engaging in acts of worship during the nights of Ramadan, as much as possible.
- Establishing and strengthening a deep connection with the Quran in the holy month of Ramadan, during which it was revealed. While increasing the recitation of the Quran, adopting the teachings of the Quran in our lives and guiding others to live in accordance with it, are amongst our duties towards the noble Quran. Furthermore, in addition to increased recitation of the Quran, it is important for every individual to make an effort to complete recitation of at least one Juz’ daily.
- Making this Ramadan an opportunity for self-reflection.
- I’tikaaf is a significant act of worship during the last 10 days of Ramadan. Hence, it is important for the administration of Mosques to obtain the permission of the public health officers when they make arrangements to enable the residents of their area to fulfill this act of worship.
- Praying for recovery from the worldwide crisis that is prevalent and return to normalcy of the lives of people of the country, for their good health, well-being and prosperous living, and for the fulfillment of their needs, during this auspicious month of Ramadan when duas are readily accepted. Additionally, increasingly utilizing the times of Iftar, Sahar and time between the Azan and the Iqamah for engaging in making Dua.
Let us make the best use of this holy month of Ramadan by following these spiritual guidelines!
May Almighty Allah allow us all to reach the month of Ramadan and make us among those who attain His mercy, forgiveness and the privilege of being freed from the hellfire.
