REGARDING THE RECENT INCIDENT IN RAMBUKKANA

The people of our country are facing various difficulties due to increasing prices of essential commodities and fuel shortages, as a result of which the people have been democratically engaged in several demonstrations and protests.

The ACJU expresses its deepest sympathies and condolences to the family of brother K.D. Chaminda Lakshan, who was shot dead by the police during a demonstration in Rambukkana on 2022.04.19, and also prays for the speedy recovery of others who were injured in this incident.

Furthermore, the ACJU strongly condemns all forms of violence, and urges the authorities to conduct an independent and transparent inquiry and to mete out appropriate legal action.

The ACJU urges all parties to carry out their activities in a democratic manner, while avoiding all forms of violence, whereas the authorities should respect the sentiments of the people and should pay heed to their appeals and fulfill their aspirations with appropriate solutions.

The ACJU prays for the people of our country to be relieved from all difficulties and hardships and for a peaceful atmosphere to be restored in our country.
