Assalamu A’laikum Warahmathullaahi Wa Barakaathuhu!

During times of trials and tribulations, it is inherent to engage in good deeds such as prayer, fasting, supplication, Dhikr, Isthighfar and Sadaqah, to seek the help of Allah the Almighty, so that he grants us relief from such trials and tribulations.

In fact, it is reported that it was the practice of the noble Prophet (PBUH) to recite ‘Qunooth An Naazilah’ during times of trials and tribulations.

Thus, we too had requested that the ‘Qunooth An Naazilah’ be recited, in order to seek refuge in Allah from the life threatening effects of the Coronavirus (COVID 19).

However, the All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulama now urges the Imams of Masjids to recite the ‘Qunooth An Naazilah’, in a concise and a humble manner, without causing any inconveniences to the Ma’mooms during the five daily prayers for a period of one month, as the muslims are unable to bury the Janazas of their deceased relatives and loved ones who have passed away due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, this request to continue reciting Qunoot An Nazilah is also to seek help from Allah The Almighty against the renewed threat unleashed against the Madrasah Institutions and the Muslim Personal Law, and for normalcy to return to our motherland so that we could carry on with our lives in a peaceful manner.

May Allah Bless us all!
