Islamic view of business:
Islam welcomes every man to engage in business endeavors to meet his livelihood needs and live a dignified life.
Al-Qur’an makes business interesting:
“When the (Jumu’ah) prayer has been performed, (emerge from the mosque) spread over the earth and seek Allah’s (sustaining) grace;” (62:10)
Career guidance of Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam:
Safir Bin Al-Awwam Radiyallahu Anha reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, “One of you taking a rope and carrying a log of wood on his back is better than asking the people for prayer.” (Sahih al-Bukhari : 1471)
Islamic view of workers:
Islam insists that workers should be given all the rights they deserve.
Workers and Employers
- Treating workers with dignity
- Do not impose work that cannot be carried by employees
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam once said, “He who holds his brothers under his authority should not trouble them by giving them a task that is beyond their power; If you give it to them, they said that you should help them too (Sahih al-Bukhari: 30) Imam Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) explained this hadith by saying that those under your authority include your employees and wage earners.
- Timely payment of wages
Abdullah Ibn Umar Radiyallah (Anhama) reports that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Pay the worker’s wages before the sweat dries up” (Sunan Ibn Majah: 2443).
Allah says, “On the Day of Judgment I will argue against three.” Abu Hairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that one of them took a good job from a wage earner and did not pay his wages. (Sahih Bukhari: 2227)
Therefore, delaying or underpaying workers’ salaries or allowances is not permissible in Islam. It will definitely be investigated on the Day of Judgment.
Duties and responsibilities towards workers:
It is Islamic guidance that workers who voice their rights should be aware that as important as their rights are, their responsibilities and duties are equally important. In this regard, it is necessary to look at the obligations of the workers and the rights of the employers.
- Business understanding with pure intention
It is the position of Islam that if a person engages in halal (permitted) labor with the intention of working and living independently of others, then he is in the path of Allah
- Treating the profession as an Ibadah (bowing).
Islam is interested in making every aspect of a Muslim’s life an act of worship. Even while working in the same way, a Muslim should act with the feeling that he is in worship.
- Acting with confidence and responsibility.
Professionals are aware of their professional responsibilities and the responsibility of having to answer to Allah in the Hereafter
Engage in business with confidence. Along with sacrifice, dedication, and punctuality, one should understand the duty within the limits laid down by Islam in economics. Through this, in the future, a good family, society and country will become the reason for the prosperity of the whole world.
- Having knowledge of the industry.
The worker is provided with complete knowledge of the industry. I am the Protector and the All-Knower when Yusuf Alaihis Salam asked him to put himself in charge of the storehouse of the earth.
It is significant here that I am. Therefore, you should know the work you are doing.
- Complete, neat.
Whatever work is done, it should be done beautifully, efficiently and elegantly. “A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Allah wants a person to perform a task effectively.” (Sha{Abul Iman: 4930)
UN International Workers’ Day:
International Labor Day is celebrated by the UN on 01st May every year to honor the contribution of workers who dedicate themselves to the development and development of their respective countries and to recognize their sacrifices and dedication.
islam had clarified the basics of the duties, rights, and relations between the worker and the employer as early as 14 centuries ago. It is significant that labor rights are properly protected if these guidelines are followed.
Therefore, we will treat our employees with kindness and compassion and treat them on a humane basis. Similarly, the workers should fulfill their work and duties and be true to the wages they receive. We get rights by performing duties.
May Allah Ta’ala guide us all to live with Islamic values and improve our relationships with people!
