On October 17, 2024, a cordial meeting between the Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed- Minister of Islamic Affairs of Maldives and Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith, the General Secretary of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), was held at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in the Maldives.
During this special meeting, the two parties engaged in discussions on various aspects of religious and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives. They exchanged views on the topic of Ulama (Religious Scholars) and Huffaz (those who have memorized the Holy Quran) visiting between the two countries.
Furthermore, an understanding was reached whereby the ACJU and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Maldives would collaborate to provide guidance on religious and public affairs to the Muslim communities of both nations.
It is noteworthy that during this visit, the Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith delivered a Jumu’ah Khutbah (Friday Sermon) at the Masjid Rasheed in Hulhumalé, Maldives, honoring the request by the Hon. Minister on October 18th.
