ACJU Representatives Participate in the 11th International Conference of Dar al-Ifta in Egypt

The Hon. President of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe, and the Asst. Treasurer, Ash-Shaikh Dr. A.A. Ahmad Aswar, travelled to Cairo, Egypt, on 1 September 2026 to represent the ACJU at the 11th International Conference of Dar al-Ifta, currently being held in Egypt.

The international conference is being conducted under the theme “Family Challenges Amid Global Changes” and is being organised in coordination with the General Secretariat of International Fatwa Bodies and the Egyptian Fatwa Centre.

During their visit, the ACJU representatives were warmly received by Shaikh Dr. Muhammad Wisam Abbas Khidr, Secretary of Fatwa Affairs at the Egyptian Fatwa Centre.

The ACJU delegation subsequently visited the Egyptian Fatwa Centre, where they held a substantive meeting with its Secretary, Shaikh Hashem Dawood. The discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, particularly the development and strengthening of the Fatwa sector in Sri Lanka.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Zuhair, a Sri Lankan student currently pursuing his MA studies in Egypt.

During the discussions, particular attention was given to developing programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills and institutional capacity of Sri Lankan Ulama in the field of Fatwa. The participants also explored practical mechanisms and possible avenues for implementing such programmes in Sri Lanka.

The ACJU appreciates the warm reception extended by the Egyptian Fatwa Centre and looks forward to further strengthening cooperation and knowledge-sharing with leading international Fatwa institutions for the benefit of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka.
