The case was heard at the Magistrate’s Court of Maligakanda on December 13, 2024.
Senior Counsel Shiraz Noordeen represented the original complainants, while Attorney Susantha Dodawatte appeared on behalf of the accused and proposed an amicable settlement to resolve the matter.
The complainants expressed their willingness to agree to a Conditional Discharge of the accused.
However, the Magistrate opined that for the case to be concluded, the accused must either plead guilty and Hon. Judge indicated that she would act leanently upon deciding the punishment.
The Magistrate subsequently directed the accused to submit their decision at the next hearing.
Next hearing of the case has been scheduled on 28/01/2025.
