The ninth postponed hearing in the case filed against an individual named Indika Todawatta for allegedly insulting Islam was held on 26 June 2026 at the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court.
Officials of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and attorneys representing the complainant were present at the hearing. The defendant, Indika Todawatta, was also present.
However, as no attorney appeared on behalf of the defendant, he informed the Court that he would represent himself in the proceedings.
Accordingly, the Magistrate postponed the case until 29 September 2026, providing the defendant an opportunity to be formally represented by an attorney, should he wish to do so.
