Message from the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama on inauguration of the ‘People’s Assembly’

ACJU/NGS/2022/130

2022.05.21

It is known that many Governments have governed this country since the independence. As these Governments have generally prioritized their own needs over the needs of the people, the country is currently is in a very difficult situation economically and politically, and is undergoing a critical crisis.

At a time when the people have lost faith in the Members of Parliament who are their representatives, it is commendable that a People’s Assembly has been formed to hear the problems, opinions and feelings of the people which would be presented to the Government and the relevant authorities in order to seek appropriate solutions.

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) welcomes the inclusion of professionals, and common people regardless of race, religion or creed in this formation, which has acquired the blessings and guidance of all religious leaders.

We also hope that this People’s Assembly will work towards seeking solutions to the current problems faced by the people of this country, through the Members of Parliament who are the people’s representatives and the relevant authorities.

Furthermore, the ACJU hopes that the Members of Parliament and authorities, as honorable people’s representatives, honor the opinions and the feelings of the people by acknowledging the proposals submitted by this People’s Assembly, during this crisis situation.

ACJU prays that the country is blessed with a sustainable solution which provides security for all citizens regardless of race and religion, unity among the communities and economic prosperity.

Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith
