A significant meeting between the Executive Committee of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) and a delegation from the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) Muslim Service, led by its Director, was held on 28 July 2026 at the ACJU Headoffice.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and fostering a closer partnership between the two institutions with the shared objective of enhancing community service through informative, educational, and value-based media initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Acting President of ACJU, Ash-Shaikh M.H.M. Burhan, underscored the longstanding significance of the SLBC Muslim Service and its enduring connection with the Muslim community across Sri Lanka. He emphasized that greater collaboration between ACJU and the Muslim Service would further enrich religious broadcasting and contribute meaningfully to the spiritual and intellectual development of the community.
During the discussions, the Acting President also sought to understand the practical challenges encountered in sustaining and expanding the Muslim Service’s programmes.
The SLBC delegation highlighted the difficulties faced in identifying qualified resource persons for various radio programmes, particularly the limited availability of competent female resource persons in specialized subject areas. They expressed their appreciation for ACJU’s willingness to assist in identifying and recommending suitable scholars and experts to contribute to future broadcasts.
The meeting further explored opportunities to develop the capacity of Islamic scholars (Ulama) by providing training in radio presentation and broadcasting techniques, thereby enabling them to communicate Islamic knowledge more effectively through modern media platforms.
The SLBC delegation comprised programme producers and broadcasters headed by Ms. Fathima Rinosia, Director of the SLBC Muslim Service.
Representing ACJU were Acting President Ash-Shaikh M.H.M. Burhan, Vice Presidents Ash-Shaikh M.J. Abdul Khaliq and Ash-Shaikh H. Omardeen, Asst. General Secretary Ash-Shaikh N.T.M. Lareef, Treasurer Ash-Shaikh M.K. Abdur Rahman, together with Executive Committee members and Staff members.
