The Holy Qur’an is the last of the divine Holy Scriptures revealed by Almighty Allah.
The Holy Quran is followed by billions of Muslims living in the world, who strongly believe that it is the divine word of Almighty Allah.
Unfortunately, on the Day of Eid last week, an individual had desecrated the Holy Quran by burning pages of it, outside a Mosque in Stockholm, Sweden, which immensely saddened the entire global Muslim community including the Muslims in Sri Lanka.
We, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, strongly condemn this despicable act and urge the Swedish government to take appropriate legal action against this individual and implement strict legislations against such activities which may disrupt peace and harmony amongst communities.
Furthermore, we express our appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Sri Lanka for condemning this act and emphasizing the obligation upon all countries and individuals ‘to prevent acts of religious intolerance and hatred which lead to polarization among communities’.
