The planning and introductory meeting of the newly appointed Executive Committee of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama for the next three years was held on Saturday, 1st and Sunday, 2nd November 2025 at the Mandarina Hotel, Colombo.
The first session commenced on Saturday, 1st November at around 5:00 a.m., under the chairmanship of the President, Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe, and with the guidance of the General Secretary, Ash-Sheikh M. Arkam Nooramith.
During this session, discussions were held regarding the responsibilities and functions of the Jamiyyah’s sub-committees, along with extensive deliberations on future plans and strategies.
Based on the constitutional amendment adopted at the General Meeting held on 17th August 2025 — which permits each sub-committee to function independently under the respective Vice-Presidents with the approval of the Executive Committee — the Secretaries of the sub-committees presented their three-month action plans.
Further discussions were held on how these plans could be effectively implemented on a national scale through the Jamiyyah’s branches and mosques.
During this meeting, the following sub-committees and their Secretaries, functioning under the President and Vice-Presidents, were officially appointed:
Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe:
▪Fatwa Committee – Ash-Sheikh M.L.M. Ilyas
▪Women’s Affairs Committee – Ash-Sheikh S.A.M. Jawfer
▪Research & Publications Committee – Ash-Sheikh A.H. Ihsanudeen
Ash-Sheikh H. Umardeen:
▪Ulama Affairs Committee – Ash-Sheikh N.M. Saifullah
▪Propagation Committee – Ash-Sheikh A.R. Abdur Rahman
▪Council for Coordination & Cooperation – Ash-Sheikh M. Rifah Hassan
Ash-Sheikh A.L.M. Rila:
▪Al-Qur’an Madrasa Committee – Ash-Sheikh A.C.M. Fazil
▪Education Committee – Ash-Sheikh M.S.M. Nazhim
Ash-Sheikh M.H.M. Burhan:
▪Hilaal Committee – Ash-Sheikh A.M.M. Mafahim
▪Media Committee – Ash-Sheikh M.S.M. Thassim
▪Branch Affairs Committee – Ash-Sheikh N.T.M. Lareef
Ash-Sheikh M.J. Abdul Khaliq:
▪Arabic Colleges Committee – Ash-Sheikh Dr. A.A. Ahmed Azwar
▪Youth Affairs Committee – Ash-Sheikh K.M. Muksith Ahmed
Ash-Sheikh I.L.M. Hashim Soori:
▪Social Services Committee – Ash-Sheikh S.L. Nawfar
A large number of newly elected Executive Committee members from various parts of the country participated in the meeting.
During the sessions, the services and contributions of the former Executive Committee members from the previous term were acknowledged and remembered.
The meeting concluded on Sunday, 2nd November at around 4:30 p.m., with a vote of thanks delivered by the Treasurer of the Jamiyyah, Ash-Sheikh M.K. Abdur Rahman.
