Court Proceedings Update – Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court
The matter was taken up for hearing before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court on 25th August 2025.
The defence counsel raised an objection, contending that the complainant’s lawyer has no authority to lead evidence of witnesses or prosecute the case on behalf of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Honourable Magistrate reserved the order and granted time for the complainant’s lawyer to file counter-submissions, if any.
Accordingly, the case has been postponed to 27th October 2025.
