Statement of Condolences and Solidarity with the People of Nepal

Ref: ACJU/NGS/2026/106
28th August 2026

The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) expresses its deepest condolences and heartfelt solidarity with the people of Nepal following the devastating floods and landslides that have resulted in the loss of lives, displacement of communities, and widespread destruction of property and livelihoods.

The ACJU extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones and conveys its prayers for those who have been injured, displaced, or otherwise affected by this tragic disaster. We also commend and appreciate the tireless efforts of the rescue personnel, government authorities, humanitarian organizations, volunteers, and all others working courageously to provide assistance and relief to those in need.

At this difficult time, the ACJU calls upon the Muslim community and all people of Sri Lanka to extend their support and solidarity to the affected people of Nepal, irrespective of their faith, ethnicity, or background. Individuals, organizations, and well-wishers are encouraged to contribute generously through credible and recognized humanitarian channels towards providing essential assistance, including food, shelter, medical care, and other urgent relief requirements.

It is also significant to recall that in 2015, when Nepal was struck by the devastating Gorkha Earthquake, the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), in collaboration with several prominent Muslim organizations in Sri Lanka, extended humanitarian assistance to the people of Nepal affected by the disaster. Funds and relief items were collected and subsequently handed over to the Embassy of Nepal in Colombo for the benefit of those affected by the earthquake. This reflects the longstanding spirit of compassion, humanitarian solidarity, and support extended by the people of Sri Lanka towards communities affected by disasters, regardless of religious or national boundaries.

Similarly, the ACJU urges everyone to remember the people of Nepal in their prayers and to beseech Almighty Allah to grant mercy and comfort to those who have lost their loved ones, healing to the injured, and strength, patience, and resilience to all those affected by this calamity.

May Almighty Allah ease the suffering of the people of Nepal, protect them from further harm, grant safety and recovery to those affected, and provide them with strength, comfort, and renewed hope during this difficult time.
