The continuous heavy rainfall prevailing across the country has resulted in severe flooding in several parts of Sri Lanka, causing significant disruption to the lives and livelihoods of many people.

In light of the urgent humanitarian needs arising from this situation, the Social Services Division of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) kindly appeals to all its regional Divisional branches and Masjid administrations to work in close coordination and make the necessary arrangements to provide every possible assistance to those affected within their respective localities.

The ACJU further calls upon the general public, well-wishers, and philanthropists to extend their generous support by contributing whatever assistance they are able to offer in alleviating the hardships faced by the affected communities.

In addition, the ACJU requests its Divisional branches and Masjid administrations to guide and assist affected individuals in formally registering the details of their losses with the respective Grama Niladhari Officers and ensuring that such information is duly recorded with the Social Services Division of the relevant Divisional Secretariat as well as the Disaster Management Centre authorities, thereby facilitating the provision of appropriate relief and assistance.

The ACJU prays to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant those affected a swift return to normalcy and ease their hardships. It also requests all Muslims to frequently recite the following supplication whenever the rainfall exceeds what is beneficial:

اللهُمَّ حَوالينَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا، اللهُمَّ عَلَى الْآكَامِ، وَالظِّرَابِ، وَبُطُونِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ – (صحيح مسلم -897)
