We, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU), Council of Islamic Religious Scholars of Sri Lanka, express our deepest condolences to the Catholic community in Sri Lanka and around the world on the passing of the Supreme Pontiff Pope Francis of the Vatican.
The Supreme Pontiff held a prominent standing among the nations around the globe and was deeply respected for his leadership, moral clarity, and unwavering dedication to the betterment of humanity.
Notably, he had continuously advocated for and supported the Palestinian cause. In his final public message, delivered on his behalf during Easter, he once again called for peace in Gaza—an enduring testament to his commitment to justice and peace for all.
May the Almighty, the Most Merciful, reward all those who work for humanity, and grant comfort and peace to all who mourn their losses.
Let us remember him as a role model who selflessly advocated for a more compassionate, just, and united world.
