It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that the world received the tragic news of the demise of the esteemed President of Iran, Dr. Ebrahim Raisi, the Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other esteemed individuals who passed away in a helicopter crash on the 19th of May, 2024.
Dr. Ebrahim Raisi was a prominent leader who dedicated his life to the services of the Iranian Nation. His recent visit to Sri Lanka, where he was warmly welcomed, stands as a testament to his commitment to fostering international relations and cooperation. During his time in Sri Lanka, he inaugurated the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project, a significant endeavor that will benefit thousands of families and bolster our national infrastructure. This visit not only highlighted his vision for development but also strengthened the bond between our nations, reflecting his diplomatic acumen and dedication to mutual progress.
We extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of those who tragically lost their lives in this incident, the Government and the people of Iran.
