‘MANHAJ’

An exposition by ACJU on matters relating to Islam and guidance for Sri Lankan Muslims

Objective
Throughout history, the Muslims of Sri Lanka have maintained unity among themselves and peacefully coexisted with other communities and have sought the guidance of the Aalims (religious scholars) on matters related to religious teachings.

Accordingly, the objective is to build an exemplary community which maintains social cohesion, which approaches religious matters moderately under the guidance of the Aalims, which respects differences of opinions, which maintains peaceful coexistence with other communities and which could contribute patriotically towards the nation.

Contents
This guidance covers matters relating to the beliefs of the Muslims, finality of Prophet-hood, the perspective on the family and companions of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi WaSallam), Awliyas, Madhabs, Tasawwuf (inner-purification), relationships with other communities, misguided ideologies and detailed guidelines on the manner of approach when disseminating Islamic teachings.

Appeal
The All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama urges all Muslims living in Sri Lanka to accept and adhere to the above mentioned aspects. The ACJU calls upon all Muslims to live in harmony amongst themselves and with all communities and practice love, compassion, moderation and tolerance and to build a role model community.

Further, the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama requests the Aalims, community representatives, dignitaries, Masjid authorities, heads/leaders of villages, academics, civil society organizations etc. to take necessary steps to build a role-model community which contributes for the improvement of the Deen and the development of the community and the nation alike.
